IoT integrated
into our daily lives. Smart cities are a great example of IoT integrated
society. A smart city is an urban development vision that integrates
Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and IoT technology within the
city. Integrating IoT into cities results in
• Better security and public safety
• Smart transportation system
• Smart information and communication
• Building smart economy and finer
system
• Providing better health and education.
• Environmental monitoring
• Water Safety
• Species protection
The definition of
Smart City varies from city to city and country to country, depending on the
level of development. So, basically smart cities is about an intelligent
platform that includes technology within the society.

known for the preparation of wireless
communication at intervals the various sectors.

world leader when it comes to transportation networks. Singapore has
implemented plans and investments in road sensors, smart traffic lights, and
smart parking. It also has an open data platform related to data collected by sensors
located on the island.
Here are some
examples of the different applications for transportation side.

time information for commuters.
Barcelona’s Smart
information management system:
Barcelona is
using sensors extensively to monitor and manage traffic. The Barcelona’s
government has installed smart parking technology, smart street lights and
sensors for monitoring air quality and noise, and to provide smart
transportation system, and also providing a network of free Wi-Fi in public
spaces.
Barcelona’s
developed a transport System application called Transports Metropolitans de
Barcelona (TMB) ,which is an application to help the travelers to make one
transfer between any two points in Barcelona. 95% of journeys in Barcelona uses
this application.
And also
Barcelona’s bus stops uses solar panel to activate screen that shows arrival
time and a seat for waiting travelers.
Some of the other
examples of apps used in Barcelona are
CityOS, which is
a municipal smart information management system. This operating system is
designed to collect and analyze data that's collected across the network of
various sensors within the city.
Apps4Bcn, a
collection of apps for everyday life in Barcelona.
Barcelona
contactless, a contactless technology that provides real time local information
to users. Barcelona is also known for its environmental sustainable projects.
Sustainable energy, smart grid, pilot projects, and smart meters, in which IoT
projects are applied.
San Francisco’s
smart city technology:
San Francisco is
one in every of the primary cities in North America to adopt good town
technology. The city has several good comes like public transportation network,
sustainability and smart urban development initiatives. It also has one of the
highest densities of LEED-certified buildings in the United States. The city
has been a frontrunner in terms of good parking. The San Francisco Park
Initiative that was launched in 2011, wherever an oversized range of sensors
